Akiba Commercial Bank Plc Hosts Wakala Forum to Deepen Financial Literacy, Strengthen AML & KYC Compliance and Boost Agent Engagement
Akiba Commercial Bank Plc successfully hosted its Wakala Forum, bringing together Akiba Wakala agents from across Dar es Salaam and surrounding regions. The forum focused on deepening financial literacy, advancing financial inclusion, enhancing understanding of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance and strengthening product and service knowledge among agents. The platform also served as an important avenue for collecting agents’ feedback to further enrich service delivery and customer experience.
Officiating the event, Akiba Commercial Bank’s Chief Commercial Officer, Ms. Wezi Mwazani, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to broadening access to financial services particularly for underserved communities, through a well-informed and empowered agent network. She emphasized that financial inclusion and financial education remain central to Akiba Commercial Bank’s mission.

The forum featured comprehensive sessions on financial education, including responsible saving, budgeting and planning, safe usage of digital channels under the Twende Kidijitali transformation agenda, customer awareness and essential everyday financial skills. Agents also participated in refresher trainings on AML and KYC compliance, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and best practices.
Additionally, the event provided an open platform for Wakala agents to share their views, challenges and recommendations. Participants commended Akiba Commercial Bank for organizing a meaningful and impactful engagement, noting that the initiative strengthens their capacity, boosts their confidence and enhances customer service delivery.
Agents further appreciated the bank’s willingness to listen and collaborate, reaffirming the importance of such engagements in driving financial inclusion, improving operational efficiency and enhancing community trust.
